Do you know what the largest living things on earth are? They are the huge redwood trees in California, which are the tallest trees in the world. Some of them are almost 400 feet high, which is as tall as a 35 story building. You would think that these trees would have a tremendous root system, but that is not the case. In fact, their roots only go down 10 to 12 feet deep before spreading outward 60 to 80 feet. What keeps them from falling down when the storms come and the winds blow is that they are tied in with each other; interlocked...as we should be.
