In America we have the right of free speech. But as Christians, we have a higher law than the laws of our nation. In the Kingdom of God, there is no such thing as “free speech.”
The words we speak matter because the words we speak have power. They will either justify you or condemn you. That’s why the Psalmist wrote in Psalm 141:3, "Set a guard over my mouth, O Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips".
Whoever said “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me” was wrong. Proverbs 18:21 says, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue."
